SYC sent offers with actual tier this year. Seems unusual and a bit arbitrary since kids move up and down all season. I wonder if all invitations were blue just to get acceptances. Do other clubs indicate the tier with the invitation?
Don’t know how it was, but kids won’t move up and down all season under the maldonados. Nor will they often move between seasons.
Alexandria and Arlington don't move their players up and down all season either. That's crazy! What's your point? I had two kids at that other club, NOT on the "maldonados" teams and no one EVER moved anyway. Actually that was a promise the Executive Director at that club made every year and it never happened. Even before Este came along! Please move on... We have!
Most clubs don't move players during the year, and very rarely between seasons. From a soccer sense - yes, it is crazy. The reasons have nothing to do with soccer though. It boils down to just less drama. It is crazy to think that decisions about player placement made in May will still hold true the following March (esp considering developmental fluctuations at these ages), but the drama that would inevitably follow the decision to "demote" a player mid-year is just not worth it for most clubs. Same goes for between years really. For a club to make the decision to demote a player, they basically have to decide they're OK with that player leaving. They are willing to exchange a bottom-of-the-team level player for a top-of-the-team level player coming in from the outside, but within the club promotions usually mean a player is (perceived as being) only marginally better than the one they'd be replacing, so it's rarely worth it. This is especially true when you are talking about the top team at any club, as players demoted from that team will almost always leave the club in response. This is why B team players have a better chance at making an A team at a different club than their existing club. SYC and LMVSC are not unique in this.
Not always the case that players leave the club. I know of a handful of players that were moved from A to B and decided to stay with the club. Sometimes that is always the best for the players. If parent egos dont get in the way it usually works out. If they can excel at other clubs good for them. I get the impression most clubs have enough players to backfill from lower teamsso not that big of a hit if one player leaves.
