I know there’s a lot of concern here that if Hogan wins, he’ll support Republicans in banning abortion. Lately I’ve been flooded with Hogan ads responding to this fear saying he won’t oppose abortion. Here’s what I don’t understand. All I’ve heard from his campaign is that he won’t support an abortion ban so we don’t have to worry about that if we elect him. He doesn’t talk about what he will do or what distinguishes him from the Democrat candidate. If the ONLY thing he’s saying is basically “Don’t worry, I’ll vote like a Democrat on abortion”, then it would seem to make more sense to just vote for the D. He’s trying to get us not to vote against him, but he isn’t giving us a reason to vote for him.
He will add to the GOP caucus and will have zero power to reign in the MAGA agenda.
This might be another fear he needs to address to keep people from voting against him. Even if, hypothetically, he could reassure everyone this wouldn’t be a problem, that voting for him would be as safe as voting for a D (and I’m not saying it is), he still hasn’t told us why we should pick him.
If he says that, then he will lose the MAGA vote. He cannot win without significant turnout in Garrett County and the Eastern Shore.
