JMU honors St. John Annapolis Delaware William and Mary spring pathways (spring start) International relations/poly science
I graduated from St. John’s College about 30 years ago. Great school with lots of grads going into law, medicine, or academia. Very interesting to see the variety and depth of occupations among my classmates. I have a very decent and satisfying career but not on their level.
Thank you for your feedback on St. John's. DS is still not sure and this is helpful. I love that it's so different, but he needs to embrace the different. I know you had said 30 years, but socially will it be okay? It's so small.
It’s definitely small. It has a second campus in Santa Fe, NM and many students, including me, spend 1 or 2 years on each campus to expand their circle a bit. That was a huge plus for me at least. If your son is interested, he should visit the campus and see if it’s a fit. Let me check but I believe they also offer one week seminar “camps” in the summer to study some of the Great Books in a group. That would be a great trial run.
Google the phrase “St. John’s College Summer Academy.” It’s easier than navigating the SJC website to find it. There are a variety of topics to choose from as well as dates. While the Summer Academy is a chance to spend a week on campus over the summer, there is a virtual option if that works better for you. Best of luck as you navigate this exciting time for your son and family.
