Here's the weird thing . . . there is always a big turnout for the Fourth of July in DC and there is always a parade, fireworks, etc.  It is not usually "hosted" by the president as it has always been organized by other groups.  I believe that the parade was the same as always.  The Capitol Fourth was the same as always.  Trump "rebranded" the event by saying "he" hosted it.  That was highly offensive to many people since this is not a "hostable" event.  It's an event that nobody "owns".  It belongs to the people.

OMG.  You are ridiculous.  IMO, whoever happens to be president is "hosting" the DC Mall celebration.  Duh.  You people seriously need to grow up.  It's like dealing with toddlers.   :roll:

No. No other President has made the Washington DC Independence Day celebration about him. They haven't given speeches. They haven't forced the military to put on a show for them. They haven't handed out VIP tickets to political cronies and supporters. They all left us alone to enjoy the parade, concert, and fireworks without forcing anyone to choose sides politically. He just cannot leave anything alone. He has to make everything about him. It diminished the DC Independence Day celebration and it diminished the military to see them become his puppets. [/quote]
