But anyone saying the GDA going away and making ECNL the only game in town for the top players will be better for the most elite of our players is completely ignorant of how far behind we are in the Men’s game and how quickly we been caught and will be surpassed in the woman’s game.
This is a very important point. There's a reason GDA was established and it was to more tightly control the training program, format, scouting, etc. Those who bemoan that the rest of the world is catching up in the GNT younger age groups should be all in on GDA, not advocating its demise, considering the current GNTs are predominantly the result of 10 years of ECNL grooming.
One accroynm: BDA 1. Not single person has advocated for the demise of GDA. Do you you'll read or just post crap that fits your narrative? 2. The argument is that they can coexist without the world collapsing. It's the DA people who are pissed that the ECNL didnt die and is regaining strength. Get over it. ECNL is not going away.
I have to disagree here. It’s plainly apparent there are ECNL’ers who are outright rooting for GDA’s demise. Reference the “USSF sucks” comments and the fact there are threads (this is not the first) extolling club defections from ECNL to DA. It’s rare to see such fervor when the opposite happens. ECNL supporters spend a disproportionate amount of energy here by any objective account.
The USSF does suck. Are you saying they dont? They dont develop our youth. The clubs do. The parents pay for it. The clubs and parents built this infrastructure. USSF profits from it and used the proceeds to boost the mens game....which has failed miserably. Ecnl was developed to fill the gap in the womens game because USSF failed the young girls in this country. If GDA started when BDA started now of this would be a issue. All of this is USSF failure. All of it.
Such broad statements. I love the contradiction you make here: “Ecnl was developed to fill the gap in the womens game because USSF failed the young girls in this country. If GDA started when BDA started now of this would be a issue.” So they couldn’t have even done “right” in your mind even if they started it back then. Mind you that the women were on top of the world back then, and still are, and there was much more need for central intervention on the men’s side. And having corrected the error a couple of years ago, you still find fault. My view is that they aren’t perfect but they are taking lots of steps to help. The fact happens to be that the reason we are behind many others in the world has to do with American culture vs anything the USSF does vs does not. Our general culture, on whole, is not where it needs to be. That’s changing, but it’s nowhere near where it needs to be yet.
