[/quote] I’d say that Slovenia had a much stronger sense of independence even before 1990, when they officially separated from Yugoslavia, and I’m pretty sure that by the time Melania came to the USA, she already felt like a Slovenian. Even though I came to the USA around the same time, being half Serbian and half Croatian, I felt like a Yugoslavian for a very long time and would declare it until menu options no longer allowed me to select ‘Yugoslavia.’ Now I just say I’m from Belgrade and add Serbia if necessary. But yes, Yugoslavia still comes through because I said in this thread that I was from the same place as her![/quote]
