ECNL just posted their full list of promotions and new clubs on Instagram. I assume this is all the announcements in one. Only four new NL girls clubs, significantly more on the boys side
Dilution
take a moment and compare the rankings of the girls 4 ECNL new members vs the new ga...
Double dilution
ga parents in panic mode!!!
Some of the clubs choosing GA right now aren’t making reactionary moves at all. Honestly, a lot of them seem to be thinking long term. These are clubs in strong soccer markets, good locations, and areas where there’s still a lot of room for growth. They’re stable clubs that believe they can afford to be patient instead of chasing whatever feels biggest at the moment. Not every club thinks they need an immediate win in year one. A lot of the online discussion around ECNL vs GA acts like everything has to be decided overnight, but the girls landscape is still changing quite a bit. College roster changes, recruiting, travel costs, player movement, and development priorities are all shifting. Some clubs clearly believe GA gives them flexibility and upside long term, especially if they’re already in a strong position locally. If a club is in a desirable area with strong player numbers and good infrastructure, they can wait a year or two and see how things continue to evolve. That doesn’t mean ECNL isn’t strong, because it obviously is, but I think some people underestimate how much these decisions are based on future positioning instead of short-term perception.
it is 100% reactionary. GA is trying to scoop up quantity in markets, quality be damned. clubs getting into ga gives them the ability to sell the "illusion" to parents/kids or getting recruited to college and the ability for the clubs to charge more by playing in the so called "elite" second league ga.
As much as you probabaly hate it. College are recruiting from GA. That is reality.
