Give Hilgy 2 seasons and he will have Prep dominating the DMV. Within 4 years, he will have Prep in the National top 5. He wouldn’t have jumped ship to Prep if he wasn’t guaranteed admissions slots/ scholarships. He had a very good set-up at McDonogh, probably the best arrangement out of all the MIAA schools Prep is eyeing national aspirations and I guarantee you they are leaving the IAC on their own accord.
I don't think guarantee means what you think it means.
The writing is on the wall for the iAC and have been brought up before. Football is a dying sport in the DC area in general and SSSAS is no longer a football member. Every school is having trouble fielding teams in Varsity, JV and barely freshman due to single sport concentration and the very large phenomena of floaters who actually discourage participation by stealing practice and play time on 2 different teams. Bullis and GP want to recruit like crazy for every sport. Landon and St. Albans are trying to balance sports and school. Episcopal and SSSAS can't get out of their own way and have driven many away with their policies.
Simply not true about the popularity of football waning in the DMV. Football numbers are up at almost every school. The WCAC and IAC are putting plenty of players in D1 programs. Not sure what is happening with some MAC schools, but Maret recruits heavily for football. SSSAS should join the MAC. As a previous poster noted, football is the one sport that most alums rally around and support at almost every school. Homecomings, reunions, and rivalry games are packed with fans. Of course the WCAC and IAC feature some of the best lacrosse players in the country, but football is still king.
The post you are responding to is filled with utter nonsense. Some of it is wishful thinking and the rest ideologically driven. Although its possible in their social circle, football is no longer PC.
"ideologically driven" ? Lax dad in khakis coming out strong for their game that is played in ten states ! So the lax games at Prep get more fans than the football games ? Have you been to the Prep stadium for a Friday night football game ? How about Bullis ? How about Good Counsel, Dematha, St John's, Gonzaga, PVI ? Is football dying at those schools ?
