Tom Homan just announced that DC’s "sanctuary city status has been REVOKED under President Trump’s federalization 🔥 “We're working with the police hand-in-hand — and when we encounter a criminal illegal alien, they'll be turned over to ICE." https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/08/13/dc-police-federal-control-tom-homan-says-dc-longer-sanctuary-city/ Meaning if you’re here illegally and get pulled over for even a simple traffic violation, adios!
I don’t really understand the hostility to illegal immigrants. They do jobs that Americans won’t do. They work cheap. They work hard. And if you’re an American and you have a job that’s threatened by some guy who just got here from Guatemala who doesn’t even speak English, you are a complete and total loser.
I’m a Dem and moderate on immigration stuff. I really think jobs are less an issue but if you live in a community with lot of undocumented immigrants it does put a major strain on both public schools and ER/hospitals. My family lives in a border state and it’s a big issue for hospital access/beds. And it’s hard to argue that it hasn’t affected schools like McPS — handling little children who don’t speak English is pretty easy because they learn so quickly but when you get older teens who haven’t really been to school before and also don’t speak English, that is a major burden that we just sloughed onto public school teachers. I don’t do. Off C I docs. I I lol. I d I dthink we democrats do ourselves any favors by pretending that those issues aren’t true and don’t need some kind of solution.
Racist.
No, im not. But there’s an issue with R business owners hiring these workers and then externalize the costs of that onto teachers and ER nurses (themselves mostly lower paid folks). I agree with a PP that we need immigrant workers and should welcome them
