Anyone else over the Easter eggs? I basically grew up with Taylor Swift's music. She's 34 and I'm 33. She's from Nashville and I grew up in Franklin, TN (~30 mins away). I went to several of her shows way back when after her debut album came out. I've been to all the tours. I'm a fan, etc, etc. But the Easter eggs are getting to be too much to keep up with. I also wish she'd stop singing about high school or relating things back to high school. HS for her has been over for 25 years. It's time to move on.
I'm nearly the same age as Taylor and you nailed it growing up on her music. It worked in my late teens and 20s, but now her peers have grown up and matured enough to realize that break ups happen, relationships end, and don't require a diss track everytime. Her peers have families, marriages, relationships without marriage, break ups and have learned to deal with life while she hasn't. That's the price of fame.
Funny that is basically what she says in But Daddy I love him: "Growing up precocious sometimes means not growing up at all" All of the criticisms I read here have been addresses and acknowledged by Taylor herself at some point. She is certainly self-aware.
But not self awareness enough to work on herself. Fame really has it's draw backs as she is finding out.
