Open Fcps are such whiny losers.
Very mature - dont be a bully.
You all have been 'bullying' Tholen for a year. You can't take a day of legal celebrations in your opponent's favor?
We've been asking her to do her job; she didnt so we organized and brought her to court - and what happened yesterday was one Dem bailing out another Dem.
She did her job. You jist didn’t agree with her decisions. That doesn’t mean she should be recalled. A bunch of very entitled people tried this stunt and lost.
DP, but there are a lot of people in her district who don't agree with Tholen's decisions, whether it was her decisions about keeping schools closed, extending Brabrand's contract for a year, going along with TJ admissions changes that reduce the number of Dranesville students getting into TJHSST, or adjusting school boundaries to favor wealthy Langley. I guess local Democratic activistscan keep calling everyone in Tholen's district who feels let down "entitled," but it doesn't position them very well for the next election.
You're not entitled if you disagree with a politician--that's democracy. You're acting entitled when you disagree with policies, make false accusations (as the court found), engineer a recall that is handily dismissed (and then cry foul about its dismissal). These heavy-handed efforts around a SB position that has been stressful to hold at this time just alienates the average voter--and will likely backfire against the group in the next election. I'm perfectly fine with there being a competitive election--I just really dislike this kind of stance that we will try to get rid of democratically elected officials whose policies we disagree with. And somehow that's Democratic activism??? Abiding by elections?
The judge denied tholen's motion to dismiss - in other words, there was enough to move forward. So it wasnt dismissed by the judge. Instead, it was turned over to Descano. He received $2,344 from tholen (vpap.org) and recused himself, turning this to James Hingeley, who, not surprisingly, determined that tholen did indeed do her job. Descano and Jim are both happy recipients of funding from the Justice and Safety PAC (Descano received $601369 (vpap.org) and Jim $5,000. This is one of the PACs that sends money into local elections to tilt results in favor of far-left democrats.
That you think any local office is held by anyone “far-left” really puts your partisan agenda right up front.
Ok but sorry to ruin your narrative. I am not a member of OpenFCPS and I did not sign the tholen petition. Im a moderate dem who is weary of the 'i won't prosecute criminals' agenda of Descano and am not happy that he paid tholen back by appointing Jim to push this issue aside. I never thought that tholen would be removed, but I am also no fan of Descano. Neither will get my vote next time around.
