The people who accost posters they think they recognize, saying “why are you always on here?” Do they not realize it takes a pretty significant DCUM obsession to actually be able to recognize various posters, so their derision for regular posters is blatantly hypocritical?
+1 I have only been posting/reading on DCUM about 6 months (I'm one of the Covid converts who got on out of boredom and are now hooked). But numerous times when I post a new thread or respond to an existing one, there are posters who will reply "This is a troll. They post this all the time." It's very weird because my posts are all in good faith -- I've never posted anything just to get a response or a rise out of people. I did learn after a bit of trial and error that I needed to do a search of the database before starting a thread (my bad) but the weird accusations that I am some kind of troll for posting things that others have also shared before is weird. Maybe there are just certain questions or experiences that are common enough that many people have them? In which case it means there's quite a bit of demand for conversation on those subjects. I don't understand the posters who think it's their job to say "No. This has been discussed on these boards before. All conversation on this subject must cease." I guess the posters who annoy me the most are the ones who can't just move along when they see posts or threads that don't pertain to them directly.
If whenever you post something, someone suggests that you are a troll, perhaps your response should be to think about what you are posting. A little introspection goes a long way.
+1 And if it seems like I could be a common topic, doesn’t hurt to search first. Search on Google. Add your search terms followed by site:dcurbanmom.com
To be fair, the search function on DCUM is terrible (though I agree with your google recommendation).
