Well, if it’s a 2nd tier team on a 2nd tier platform, isn’t that exactly where they belong? That comment doesn’t make sense.
Lou Fusz would beat 50% of the encl teams at an age group. stop with your 2nd tier team/platform BS. Unless your kid plays on one of the top ECNL teams, its all the same.
LF has great teams no doubt they could compete in ECNL as could many teams from GA. But GA is the 2 tier platform for girls. 2nd place isn’t a bad thing it’s just behind first place ecnl.
Barf Comment. GA is on a good trajectory to surpass ECNL in quality/ quantity. The GA has only been around 6 year. ECNL Girls, 15 years. Any idiot can do the math and see how for and how quickly the GA has come. Just look at the U12 State Cup final 8 teams in Virginia. 7 ECNL Teams and 1 GA Team. And I am betting now the GA Team will win it all again. I know that is small sample size, but the soon the uninformed will stop carelessly say the GA is 2nd tier -which it is not. As Listed by US Soccer: Top-Tier Youth Leagues (National/Elite): -MLS Next (Boys): Top-tier league launched by MLS to connect elite academies, offering the highest level of competition for boys aiming for professional pathways. -Girls Academy (GA): Highest level for girls, focusing on top-tier competition and national team identification. -Elite Clubs National League (ECNL): Top-level league for both boys and girls that serves as a premier platform for college recruiting and top-tier competition.
I do love the effort at logic here: 7 of the top 8 teams are ECNL and one is GA, ergo, GA is the best. Wouldn’t even be true if the GA team won. No one doubts there are SOME good teams in GA. The league’s problem is depth, which your stats corroborate.
PP Here, I agree with your points! Given a few more years, might reach league parity regarding quantity. -Also, never said GA was the best. -Just not 2nd tier. ;)
If ECNL is tier one what tier would GA be in?
If MLSNext is tier one, what tier would ECNL be in?
I doubt you’ll find anyone here argue that ECNL is on the same level as MLSN on the boys side. Take out the academies and it’s closer but it’s still tier 2. Just like GA is tier 2 compared to ECNL on the girls side. Adding more teams won’t make it stronger. The gap is really big league to league. It is what it is. Your kid can totally go D1 from GA just like ECNL. But the talent is mostly in ECNL so most of the recruits come from there. There’s no compelling reason for a girl parent to go GA over an ECNL club. But if you can’t make an ecnl team or one isn’t close GA is a fine option. Just stop saying the leagues are at the same level. They just aren’t, and that’s ok.
You're absolutely correct the talent is mostly in MLSNext. There is no compelling reason to go ECNL over an MLSNext team, but if you can't make an MLSNext team then ECNL is a fine option.
While my kid is on a MLS Next HG team, I would consider Arlington before most of the other HG options based on the coaching, not the league. That includes choosing Arlington over BSC and SYC. Yes, those teams will beat Arlington in our current age group. However, schools don’t recruit teams, records and leagues. They recruit players. You have to develop a recruitable player in order to be recruited. I think we would stay with our coach even if they lost the MLS Next HG badge because I have seen how futile other “elite MLS Next HG” training environments are.
