Just saw their Blue team went 3-1 over the weekend and is playing top 20 competition. Seems to me like a strong team being built.
Agreed, very strong and talented group! Great pieces in place already and overall speed and athleticism in all positions. You can tell the offense and defense still need time/practice to get the timing down. Typical for a new team. Wouldn't be surprised if this team breaks thru the top 10 in the fall. Looks likes they beat all teams from #16 thru #20 already (and beat SW twice  ) If they keep this team together, watch out!
It remains to be seen whether the team can achieve a top 10 ranking. Based on current performance, this could be difficult to achieve. However, with some adjustments maybe its possible. While I acknowledge it has been discussed on this thread ad nauseum, it is worth noting (again) that many very good 2028 players play for M&D, Hero's, Et al. Had Capital been able to somehow return those players and successfully assemble a true DC-area all star team, the resulting team could have been on the same level as any in the country. People like to trash 2028 as a down year in the DC area, but I don't think that is necessarily accurate. They lost too much talent to the Baltimore teams.
A handful of players from DMV leave for MD clubs every year. Typically other talented DMV players fill the gap where Capital remains highly competitive. For the 28s, this top talent largely wasn’t there. Hence 28s = down year compared to other years. This is true bec past Capital teams farmed much higher-ranked year 1 teams with even higher rankings in year 2 because, after losing the typical players to MD clubs, the remaining DMV talent was strong. Cap 28 didn’t lose too much talent to Balto: they lost the handful of better players for that year, and there wasn’t enough talent across the rest of the DMV class compared to other years to fill the void. It’s why Capital 28s have hovered around #21 this year when past teams in year 1 have hovered at #5 (25s) and #16 (24s) after the predictable player exodus to MD before the year 1 season. Great to see Capital continuing to improve - they will get better as most / all Capital teams do when it counts in year 2.
So let me get this straight, you were able to deduce that the talent dropped off in the DMV since in 2024 Cap Blue was ranked #16 with a 7-14-1 record and their 2028 team is ranked #21 with a 10-13-2 record? I see your point, basically the talent dropped off the cliff based on your analysis since 2024 to now. Get out of here with that nonsense!
You’re funny. No - I based it off these stats: 2023s were ranked #12 in year 2 (year 1 stats aren’t available anymore) 2024s went from #16 in year 1 to #8 in year 2. 2025s went from #4 in year 1 to #2 in year 2 2026s went from #11 in year 1 to #7 in year 2
Don't quit your day job Sherlock or at least go back and take some stats class. Your claims are still baseless and at most conjecture. A quick search will tell you that in their last season... - 2022 ranked #21 - 2023 ranked #15 - 2024 ranked #15 - 2025 ranked #2 - 2026 ranked #10 - 2027 ranked TBD - 2028 ranked TBD Everyone seems to be tracking with 2025 being an outlier.
You continue to use year 3, which is a year AFTER most players commit at top teams. No one cares about that year except you. Attempting to use it repeatedly, when you've been told it's useless (which you're aware of anyway) makes you disengenuous and duplicitous. All prior teams were much higher ranked than the 27's and 28's. Let's hope for the best in their recruiting results.
My 2028 daughter is my oldest, so I am not as wise and seasoned as some of the rest of you. However, I find it hard to believe that such competitive kids would turn into couch potatoes after they commit, and their year 3 results should be tossed out. I certainly didn't notice any of the junior and senior players taking a nap during the high school season. If my daughter pulled that stunt while I was still paying her club dues, I'd set her screen time limit back to 30 minutes.
What happens is MD clubs play their starters for most of the games in year three bec they’re hella worried about their rankings. Capital has won the race by this point and parents and parents can focus more on enjoying the year with each other. It’s an awesome experience. If any remaining girls need to get committed, those girls are given more time. The goal of club is to get committed to your top choice. The goal of HS is to win hardware for your school’s trophy case. Two totally different things
Lol, such cope. M&D and Heros give equal PT in HS, they are ranked higher bc they are better.
No they do not. I have watched the Capital 2026 with their equal play time rotations lose by one or two points or tie because they rotate players and on the sidelines are the two best middies and defenders watching their team lose. Hero and M&D keep their best players in during close games and capital (so frustrating) does their robotic rotations no matter the score. They even had a braveheart to break a tie against one of the best teams in the country and they did not have their 3 best shooting middies in! They lost!
Haha, my kid is on one of those teams. They play everyone.
From what I’ve seen, Capital enforces the split time model more rigidly than the MD teams, switching players as close as possible to the schedule. While I agree all players get time on the field for the MD teams, their substitutions seem more flexible, and top players tend to play more often than their subs, but maybe this is happening coincidentally when I am watching.
