DC is ~40 percent white, and I think the DCPS student population is more African-American/less white than the population as a whole. If students were randomly assigned to schools, every school in the city would be majority African-American with a significant white minority and smaller numbers of Latino and Asian students; it's residential segregation that results in schools that are 60 to 70-percent white in Ward 3 and 98 to 100-percent black in Wards 7 & 8.[/quote]
