It's really disturbing to me how people are treating this situation as a form of participatory entertainment. I know a lot of true crime podcasts are like this too, but I guess I don't follow those closely enough to see this behavior so much. But it feels like a lot of people are looking at this awful situation, which is clearly terrifying for the family, and thinking "Fun! Now I get to play detective! That person over there has facial hair and looks shady -- did he do it? Hee hee hee."

My advice to anyone disgusted by it, just ignore any post that includes something like "this isn't adding up" or "I find it strange..." or "my gut tells me" or "this raises alarm bells" etc.  They're all written by know nothings who have done this all before on other threads and been wrong many times over.

I only visit this thread for the news updates which have been pretty timely.[/quote]
