The reality is that either Eric Adams wins the general election or the 1% will continue to flock to Florida and Texas, as will businesses, and the middle class who can't leave will bear the burden. Raising business taxes by 55% doesn't help if then the businesses leave. Same with the 1%. Basically, a Catch 22 for NYC.
Or he will get into office and do only a fraction of what he campaigned on, like most politicians.
I think the biggest problem he can cause would be with policing and the police. The mayor has the ability to install the chief of police. NYC was cleaned up in part by bringing in very tough chiefs of police. After de Blasio, Adams ran as a former police officer who promised to clean up de Blasio's mess. It's already an uphill battle due to the huge influx of illegal immigrants that have overwhelmed the city's resources, combined with Zero Bail. NYC is estimated to have a 4.5B deficit by 2027, and that is before any additional spending proposed by Mamdani.
I will add, that NY is constitutionally mandated to have a balanced budget. The way that gets done is by cutting services. It is clear that politicians like Mamdani don't understand, or I should say don't care about reality, and just say whatever will get votes from people who want to believe the rhetoric.
What a shister Mamfani is. He and AOC are a perfect pair!
Totally. Same maniacal phony baloney fake ridiculous promises to get the vote. Then. Nothing but talk and whining and tweets. Waste of space.
The man hasn't even won the general election yet and you're acting like he has already failed. Why does he scare you so much?
