His coaches told him to be forceful. They coached him to exhibit energy and passion. Instead we got an angry, sometimes inarticulate old man who was divisive and arrogant. This is what came to mind after just 5 minutes into his speech: […]
Your spin isn’t going to work. You’re probably feeling a little wounded this morning after Biden showed you for the fool you are.
Nah. I wasn't impressed. He fired up his base, for sure. But, did he convince the undecided? Probably not. He threatened the Supreme Court. He took zero responsibility for the border crisis he caused. He was angry and divisive. Instead of an "I feel your pain" speech, he cast blame and didn't acknowledge that the American people are not thriving under his administration. He ran the first time on bringing civility and decorum back to the WH. He said he was a uniter. He has done none of that. And, last night he doubled down on hate. He was neither civil nor uniting. The US and the world are in a worse place than when he took office. Voters who want unity were not impressed. The good thing is that the Democrats will be less likely to want to replace him at the convention after last night. That is good for Trump.
The only hate I saw last night was from MTG. And I don't see anyone in the GOP attempting to unite anyone. Unless you count uniting women against anti-choice ballot initiatives.
MTG's outburst wasn't the only one. And the fact that MOST of the Republicans sat on their asses with stony-faces, furrowed brows, frowns and folded arms THE ENTIRE TIME including when Joe said things like "We're Americans, what we do when we're knocked down is we get right back up!" says it all. Not only do they hate Joe, they are so blinded in their hate that they can't even bring themselves to agree with things like that. At least there were moments like when Joe spoke about how the bipartisan border bill got torpedoed by the right where they showed Jim Lankford nodding, and likewise Mike Johnson sitting behind him had to nod and acknowledge a bunch of things but it was easy to tell that Johnson was himself annoyed with his fellow Republicans for their outbursts and their lack of support for even those moments.
