[/quote] Maybe some of the suggestions would actually be less insulting coming from you, a total “clueless” foreigner, if you were to say, “oh yeah in America we’ve always had so-and-so!” in a light, oblivious way. Whereas if your husband were to bring these things up, it would be perceived as if he’s ashamed of them, or his upbringing, or that his life abroad is changing him into someone else, someone less Bangladeshi etc. But I also totally understand your not wanting to seem like the stereotypical “arrogant American,” telling people how they should be doing things.
