There's been some news articles with headlines suggesting it may be wise due to increased contagiousness.  (Example:  https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/covid-outside-transmission-17288676.php)  None of them have any data, mostly just like "hey, maybe it isn't safe outside?", so a little annoying.

Also some news reports about "as contagious as measles".  Again, not really proven to be true yet.  (https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2022/07/ba5-omicron-variant-covid-surge-immunity-reinfection/670485/)

But also, some people who don't want to muddle through a risk assessment and who find masking outside unbothersome are likely to mask, just in case.  I'm opposed to mandating the precautionary principle, but people are welcome to employ it on an individual basis.

I only would mask outdoors in a pretty crowded area that I wasn't at in order to socialize (e.g. very crowded farmers market would mask but crowded park where I was meeting friend would not).  [/quote]
