A tip?  A tip that the tipster knew was BS?  A tip coming from the opposing campaign as a false flag to open a bogus investigation?  
This tip was given for one reason - to get some false dirt out in the media to damage Trump.  And, the FBI was sent on a wild goose chase for 3 years because of a "tip."

This is what is known as a process crime, which Rs usually dislike, and this particular one is unsupported and possibly unsupportable, since the only FBI person who received the tip is already on record as not knowing or remembering.[/quote]
