I think everyone should be prepared for 100% virtual school this fall due to delta. The school boards and teachers unions will demand it. Mark. My. Words.
Nah, y’all just wanna play the victim again. Ain’t nobody asking for anything more than masks & vaccines.
I’m a new teacher and just joined the teacher Facebook group and wow, a lot of teachers are unsure and wanting to start virtual. I can’t. Being new is hard enough. Can’t do virtual. I would fail the kids so bad.
I'm not part of that FB group, but no teacher I know wants to teach virtually. Not me, not my spouse, not my teammates...
Well there are teachers shocked we are starting in person.
I figure if we can eat indoors, vacation in groups, go to the gym, attend baseball games with tens of thousands, attend concerts with thousands of people, fly to Disney, fly to Europe, party on Bourbon St., etc. we can start school in person. ES Teacher
This was true before Delta became prevalent. The science suggests that (1) it is much more easily transmissible, (2) younger kids are more affected by it than they were earlier strains and (3) vaccinated people can catch it and spread it. The reality has changed--that doesn't mean that school needs to be virtual, but more precautions need to take place, particularly around the lunch rooms.
Delta is prevalent now while we (teachers) are doing all of those things now. My point is if we can do all of those things while Delta is here, we can teach in person. Wouldn't it be hypocritical to say otherwise?
I am not doing all those things. We are still in a pandemic.
And by the way, I don’t do all those things because I am going to teach in person. I really wish people would stop treating the world as if it were their playground.
