How many more will die under this Governor? Why didn't he let the police or the National Guard intervene sooner, before someone got killed?
Because he was following a court order.
This. The Governor was in a damned did you do/ damned if you don't situation. The City had public safety concerns before the rally took place and said they couldn't secure the demonstration area. They tried to move it to an area that could be better secured. And a federal Court ordered them not to. http://www.nbc29.com/story/36115819/judge-grants-injunction-jason-kessler-can-have-unite-the-right-rally-at-emancipation-park If McAuliffe had moved the National Guard in before he absolutely had to, the Alt right would have sued. He didn't more them fast enough, and people are pissed. Here's an idea, maybe the Alt right (and the ACLU, who represented them) should have worked with law enforcement to ensure public safety? Instead of forcing them to allow a protest that the CITY SAID WAS UNSAFE.
It's the job of the government to keep the peace in a situation like this. Some of the demonstrators had the necessary permits, some did not. I don't know why the governor and the law enforcement saw fit to not enforce the law and allowed the situation to deteriorate. Nothing excuses physical violence except in self defense, but it's a failure of the VA governor and law enforcement agencies to not contain a confrontational situation. The governor said in his statement that white supremacists and Nazis are not Americans. This is wrong. These violent white supremacists and violent Nazis are Americans the same as violent Antifa, and violent BLM members. Virginia has an obligation to issue a public gathering permit to anyone and maintain the peace - it is a core component of government function. I find it reprehensible for a government official to fail at his job and blame one side of a two-sided confrontation.
This times 100. PP, understand you are too logical for this bunch...
