Things are definitely grim on the Ukrainian front. Russians are willing to lose hundreds of thousands of men. It's absolutely bonkers. I mean how do you fight against suicidal people, particularly when they have nearly 4 times the population. In the longterm, Russia is absolutely wrecked. Their demographics are terrible. They've lost an entire generation of young men. Most of their military hardware is gone now. Literally, thousands of tanks. It's breathtaking how little Russians care for human life and their own strategic interests. I mean Poland would absolutely destroy Russia if they ever crossed the border. But this is a tough time for Ukraine. They are on the defense. Not supplying them is just heartbreaking. They are obviously very good fighters. But Republicans are what they are. Pro-Russian. Same with the far left. They seem to love Hamas, but not Ukraine. The situation is tragic. It is a very good argument, however, for the necessity of air dominance. The US would never fight this kind of war
Wouldn't that be doubly true for Ukraine, though? Except to make things worse, their women are in Europe with no plans to return.
Yes, but Ukrainians are on the defense. They tried a summer offensive. But the minefields and the dialed in artillery destroyed them. I mean imagine everything between Maryland and Maine being mined. And the artillery. That's what Ukraine is dealing with. It's unwindable without air power. And even F-16s aren't going to do it. They're fourth generation fighters. It's not F-22s and F-35s. They can be shot down. It's a war of attrition now, and without the US supplying shells and ammo, Ukraine loses. Russia is four times bigger and they are willing to die for this. But Ukrainian officers do seem very inclined to preserve their troops. Unlike their Russian counterparts. But none of this really matters. The situation sucks for Ukrainians. And Russians are willing to suffer absolutely enormous casualties. They started with an army of 360,000 solderers. They've lost more than 315,000 of them. It's absolutely nuts what Russians are willing to endure for this. Russian men seem very willing to die horrible deaths. That's the problem.
