What you see is what their real life is like.[/b]  Being and staying motivated to make life long changes is hard and is even harder in an area where they are likely doing much better than a good portion of the population. Add in no role models or support.

I also believe that the rah, rah adoption is awesome shine has worn off for them and because neither were allowed to really grieve the loss at the time it happened, they are now having to deal with the grief now.  Don't get me wrong, I truly believe that placing Carly was a good decision for Carly but it was not a decision without loss and grief for Cate and Tyler.[/quote]

Yes, but without this show, this would NOT be their life. Jobs wouldn't be optional. Nor would leaving the house and showering. They actually had determination to get out of their originating families and lower class milieu, until this show and its attendant money came along and negated the need for that drive. They lost their hunger. [/quote]
