Is the government shut down? I got mail. It seems like a big nothingburger.
Got my SS check, Medicare and the planes are flying. The government does nothing. Shut it down and fire everyone!
So you are happy for what you got from the government but f*ck everyone else. No food or healthcare for kids. No research. No parks. No weather forecasting. Just like a republican.
DP. I'm tired of money getting taken out of my pay check for health insurance subsidies for complete strangers. The HC industry is holding this country hostage. We spend 17% of GDP on HC. The next closest countries, Germany and the UK spend 10% to 11%. Most other countries spend 6% to 7%. Why are we an outlier? There's practically no competition here. Just govt writing checks to pharma, hospitals and medical establishments. And people paying hefty friggin' premiums. And democrats are right at the front of the line saying we need to spend more and more. Enough already.
I think we all agree that our healthcare system is a disaster. In the short term, we're all going to be paying more out of pocket if those subsidies are canceled.
Since I actually WORK for a living, I'm going to be paying more in taxes from my pay check than health care costs. That tends to happen when half the country is living off of complete strangers. I'm f'n sick of it.
Ah yes, the stale MAGA grievance that half the country is a bunch of lazy moochers. Hate to break it to you but most of those "lazy moochers" are working their assessment off, but are paid peanuts, many are working 2 or more part time jobs, only given 32 hours rather that 40 so that their employers can screw them out of benefits. Meanwhile they are also being gouged on healthcare costs, housing that's too expensive and everything else, getting poorer and poorer as billionaires laugh all the way to the bank.
