DP.  I'm tired of money getting taken out of my pay check for health insurance subsidies for complete strangers.

The HC industry is holding this country hostage.  We spend 17% of GDP on HC.  The next closest countries, Germany and the UK spend 10% to 11%.

Most other countries spend 6% to 7%.  Why are we an outlier?  There's practically no competition here.  Just govt writing checks to pharma, hospitals and medical establishments.  And people paying hefty friggin' premiums.

And democrats are right at the front of the line saying we need to spend more and more. Enough already.[/quote]

That's what living in a society IS. You pay taxes toward education for everyone's kids. You pay for roads whether you drive on them or not.

You are correct that the healthcare industry is a scam and is holding us all hostage, but you direct your ire at fellow citizens instead of the people who actually gain from the system as it currently works—the wealthy people that control everything in this country. Were it not for them, we could join the modern world and we could all have decent standards of living and care. Why allow yourself to be manipulated into anger at people in the same GD boat as you, rather than the ones who put us all there? [/quote]

I wanted to add that you are also correct that the Democrats solution is also dumb and throwing more money into a black hole of greed will not fix anything.

In truth, there is no solution to this problem unless and until you remove the profit motive from the equation. Healthcare needs to prioritize people, not profits. Until we address that core issue, the industry will continue to balloon prices and cut corners to maximize their profits. No amount of spending or spending cuts can fix that fundamental problem. But neither party as currently organized will ever offer a real solution because the people that write the big fat checks they love so much will never allow it. [/quote]
