I just want to make sure I have this right. Democrats think Trump or his people called the network and said something like, "Jimmy Kimmel makes jokes about me. Please fire him." And the network execs said okay and canceled his show. Do I have that right?
We all saw the video of the FCC chairman threatening ABC’s broadcast license. Do you not grasp that in the American system of government the various executive agencies and their appointed heads fall under the direct command of the executive? No, of course you do. You’re just playing games rather than acknowledging- as many conservatives have in response to this - that the current occupant of the WH is an existential threat to the most bedrock of our civil rights, the one which enshrines all the rest.
Ten examples right here. But you lefties were cheering censorship back then. [twitter]https://x.com/swamp_ist/status/1968505481221026218[/twitter]
Did the government demand their firing? I repeat - did the government threaten to shut down their business if they did not fire these people? And in case you did not hear me - did the government demand that they be fired? Until you can answer that, you need to stop posting. You just look stupider with each successive regurgitation. It’s why 90% of America thinks MAGA rides the short bus.
DP. The government demanded those things. So what? No different than the government demanding social media companies take down certain posts for whatever reason. The relevant question is: WHY was JK fired? And as of now, what is available from the public record suggests that this was a voluntary action led by local broadcasters, sponsors, and then ultimately the national broadcaster. You want to wave your arms around focusing on correlation, but every minute you ignore CAUSATION YOU look more and more poorly informed. And if you really want to take the position that correlation is all that matters, then you are creating a framework where law enforcement agencies, national security agencies and public health agencies cannot request social media companies take down information. Either way you are boxed in unless causation can be proved. Good luck on that.
