^PP, That made me smile and sad at the same time. Those were good times. Wish I knew you to give the ten or buy you cocktail. Hey, do you remember Hot Shoppes Jr.? Pappy Parker chicken! I also loved the Ponderosa story. We had one of those on my side of the beltway too.
Don't be sad - it was a great adventure and my buddy who went with me had enough pocket change himself to cover us. I put it in the category of helpful life lesson that did not cause much in the way of pain - unlike others. We took the boat ride by ourselves to Marshall Hall (maybe we were 10-11) and spent the day by ourselves at the amusement park and took the boat back. Seeing these comments about the Lyon sisters reminds me how innocent life was even back in the early 70's - that loss does make me sad and for the agony of the family. Went to Hot Shoppes Jr. on River Road so much we just called it "Jr.'s" It was a sure stop on the Bethesda "cruise" circuit once we received our precious MD drivers license - before pictures of course. Would love to compare stories and memories of a wonderful time of life - over a cocktail.
