It's going around like wildfire that Elaine knew all about this and never said anything about it. It's fine if she really believed in moving kids around for "equity", but that contradicts what she's been saying.
Explains why she looks so miserable all the time.
We need a thoughtful, responsible School Board member, not a loud, perky cheerleader for a single school.
Anyone who supports One Fairfax is neither thoughtful nor responsible. It's sad that the main point of contention in this election pits the Langley "cheerleaders" vs those who are so resentful of that community that they would exploit poor kids to satisfy their sense of moral superiority.
John Cook, a Republican from the Braddock District, supported One Fairfax, as did all the Democrats of the Board of Supervisors and School Board. No Republicans opposed it (Herrity and Schultz abstained, and Wilson was a no-show at the meeting where it was voted upon by the School Board, as has so often been the case during his tenure). One would think that, if the commitment to consider the impact of BOS/SB decisions on racial and social equity embodied in One Fairfax was so terrible, they would have both attended the meetings and taken a firm stand against the policy. Didn’t happen. Langley made itself part of the 2019 election story when, rather than accept repeated assurances from School Board members that there were no current plans to move kids out of Langley, some Langley parents went ballistic and created their One Great Falls web site, which later changed its name to Voices of Fairfax and has spent the last three months churning out misleading videos and press releases, and then endorsing a slate of all-Republican candidates, all with the goal of protecting the boundaries of a single school pyramid in perpetuity.
