I do t think the vast majority of Eastern Europe agrees with you and have not for many years.

The European Union (EU) countries in Central and Eastern Europe (MOE countries) are: Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (joined the EU in 2004) and Romania and Bulgaria (joined the EU in 2007).

Except for Hungary, they themselves choose western democracy over alignment with Russian dictatorship.

I find it interesting how many of those nations and peoples were Nazi allies during World War Two: Hungarians, Slovakians, Bulgarians, Romanian, Estonians, Lithuanians, Latvians, and Czechs (Moravians and Bohemians to a noticeable extent).  Only the Poles mounted any significant continued resistance to the Germans; Polish Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen fought valiantly on all fronts-the only nation to do so.  There are also more Poles listed as the Righteous Among Nations than any other nationality. [/quote]
