Because MCPS curriculums suck. Why can’t we have quality courses available at every school? A good normal HS is fine. We don’t need to create these hyper specialized programs so families can self segregate and run the school. Plenty of engineers that didn’t attend a STEM HS. In fact, the majority of people in STEM careers don’t even have a STEM degree.the recent grads with the STEM degrees are the unemployed ones [/quote]

You need STEM classes to get into computer science or engineering schools.  It's a huge problem when some schools only have 1-2 in each subject and no clubs.  Those kids cannot be competitive.  [/quote]

False that some schools have more STEM classes/clubs available than others?  Absolutely true, and that's not even considering magnets.

False that having such classes/clubs available not only broadens/deepens the educational experience and encourages the local community to aspire to them, but also provides for a more attractive applicant profile for consideration by colleges of STEM-major applications?  Again, absolutely true.[/quote]
