I think KAA is way more luxurious than Oakton HS. Oakton HS, even after it's recent renovation doesn't come close facilities wise. I get it why Fox Mill want to go KAA, I just do not understand why the ones wanting to go to KAA are being so nasty! Shame on the Fox Mill that attack! Kudos to Fox Mill family who stood up and do the right thing!
What Fox Mill families are attacking? The comments I see complaining about the Oakton campaign are coming from the Crossfield families that want to move and are annoyed that the Oakton families are claiming to speak for everyone in their community. I am pretty sure that the people with the map data are Crossfield families that want to go to KAA because of the long bus rides. Fox Mill was not, and to be frank is not, expecting to be moved. Some of us would be happy to be moved but we were surprised to see Fox Mill included in 3 of the 4 scenarios.
Fox Mill SPA numbers and membership were published with the Coates boundary study. Crossfield had SPAs but no numbers. Fox Mill SPA membership numbers total 533. The school had 135 transferring in for JIP. No JIP at Hughes/South Lakes and leave it at Carson/Western. 71% of the Fox Mill current base school to the new Western HS. 100% if there are SPA boundary changes with Crossfield. 3 SPAs west of 286=169, 32% 3 SPAs school site+2 adjacent=210, 39% 1 SPA juts into Dogwood=25 3 SPAs totaling 129 that could boundary change into Crossfield 24%. Swap with 1 or more adjacent to 286.
Please explain. I don't understand your result as it applies to boundaries.
Oct 2025 FCPS made public SPAs [student planning areas] FCPS with no student count for grade levels K-6, MS, HS OR school assignment. FCPS removed the Coates study recently with student counts. The document removed had students K-6 at Fox Mill for school year 2024-25 by SPA along with all other schools actually to be used on the Coates study.. Look up the Fox Mill SPAs for location on this: https://www.fcps.edu/system/files/forms/2025-10/2025-26_student_planning_areas_map.pdf Fox Mill counts were: 2511 = 25 2524 = 41 2523 = 40 2521 = 48 2514 = 111 Fox Mill 2519 = 73 Fox Mill Site 2520 = 26 Fox Mill 2510 = 59 Fox Mill west of 286 2517 = 60 Fox Mill west of 286 2515 = 50 Fox Mill west of 286 533 The Coates study page still exists but leads to squat: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/Coates-Area-Boundary-Maps.pdf
