If this is the way our country is heading, to a place where everyone needs to be medicated to function and because life here is just so unbearable, then I need to move to another country. I am thinking Denmark maybe.
Maybe try Latvia? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_antidepressant_consumption I’m guessing you might find fewer of your neighbors on SSRIs if you went to Yemen, or Afghanistan or Syria. You can be certain they are mentally tough enough for you despite having valid problems.
So is the entire world now dependent on psych meds? Is that what you’re saying? Oh well I guess I should just give in to peer pressure because I do feel sad and defeated and depressed occasionally and I have a kind of stressful life. I scream at my kids and my DH sometimes, I have some phobias, and I wish I could be more perfect. Maybe an SSRI would make me care less about things, or I could just start drinking heavily.
Alternatively, you could just mind your own business, keep your backward and ignorant views of mental illness to yourself, and let people enjoy things.
