Russia would have had to have lost their entire army almost twice over for your 4 percent figure to be even remotely possible. Given what we can guess about Russian force size and casualties, its probably more like a 4 percent chance of dying since the start of the SMO.

I would assume the poster was talking about front line troops. If Russia has a tooth to tail ratio of 1:4; likely higher. That means if they have 1M troops in Ukraine, only 200k are front line. That 4% still seems way too low.

Maybe it refers to shock infantry troops…that number for them may be realistic from the evidence out there. Russia sends waves of infantry with little to no armor support. These troops are basically bait to determine Ukrainian positions.[/quote]
