I worked as a quant for couple of years and most trading today is automated. In fact we had situations with traders calling and yelling at us because the programs were telling to do something that clearly wasn't the optimal choice. The wild volatility we see today is the result of automated trading. So these programs analyze thousands of moves and reacts to the smallest action that will yield the smallest possible profit. I am afraid this is the future. Get ready for more volatility. The human part of trading is gone and it's long been gone. [/quote]
