This particular case may be different but as Nikole Hannah Jones has pointed out, “blue” areas have some of the highest segregation in schools and (fairly well-off, white) liberal parents ALWAYS find 1,000 reasons to oppose plans to make schools less white/reflect area demographics whenever they are proposed.[/quote]

It makes me gnash my teeth because I personally know her circle and they are extremely financially & educationally privileged and there kids will NOT suffer academically at all. Meanwhile their dilettantish interventions lead to things like San Francisco undermining math education through supposedly anti-racist curriculum decisions like banning Algebra in middle school … these types care zero about actually educating kids at Miner, and care a LOT about posturing online and getting good media hits. A lot of well meaning progressive approaches to crime and education actually exacerbate the problem and lead to worse outcomes. “Violence interruptors” that don’t interrupt anything, restorative justice in schools, no bail, ap classes for all, like I’m sorry but you’re making the US dumber and less safe.[/quote]
