I have mixed feelings on dropping masks at school. I'm ready to be done with masks but I just got yet another notification that a student in my DD's K class is positive. So far, neither of my kids have gotten COVID when their classmates have had it - and this latest notification is the 5th one this school year. The first 3 occurred before my kids were able to be vaccinated. I don't think kids are doing much social distancing anymore, and they all eat together inside, so maybe the masks do help contain the spread.
Flu is more dangerous to your child than COVID. Before 2020, did it feel like universal indoor masking was necessary to keep your child safe? I disagree with you, but this is a contested area and I could be wrong. But even if I am, a mask optional policy would allow your child to mask and remain as safe as now and allow other parents to choose what they think is best for their kids.
