Did any kid who is in IEP got selected?
Mine did. ADHD.
Congrats... Are you going to go ahead with it? Note: My kid has ASD and have got selected. Not sure whether to accept or not?
Yes, we are moving ahead. I talked with the principal and classroom teacher before we submitted. I may look into a tutor, particularly math, to make sure he has a solid start. Good luck to you as well. What are you thinking you'll do?
Thanks. We are going to talk to spec ed and class teacher to take final call next week. We plan to try for 1 year to see how it goes.
NP. Our DC was recently diagnosed with ADHD and ASD and distance learning didn't work for him. Unsurprisingly, he didn't get in and the GBRS was all Os. I'm not sure whether to appeal or even if AAP is right for him, even with the high test scores. Your plan to try to for a year seems sensible.
21:18 here. I feel for you; the distance learning has been really hard to manage. I know my DC’s school has been doing their best with the Spec Ed services, but they just can’t be implemented the same way virtually. Maybe it’s worth talking to your school’s AART to see whether it makes more sense to appeal or to wait for next year after things are (hopefully!) more back to normal?
