FCV values strikers and defenders more and puts the athletes in those roles. Christian likes the club to play like Klopp does. You can be successful without focus on midfielders.
This simply isn’t true. FCV creates teams almost completely with midfielders and moves them to defense or strikers based on ability.
I agree. I am talking about where the best players play. The best players at FCV becomes forwards. If FCV has YNT call up or a blue chip D1 player, you can bet money it’s an attacking player. Playing forward in the system requires players that can press and transition quickly. The forwards are ALSO great defenders. They often become defenders at the next level. Emily Fox is a great example. Because they press, they need good athletic defenders who can play a high back line and contain. So they are the next priority. The mids are less important on a compressed field that presses. Defenders in containment often pass to the forwards to counter. It’s just the system. German style soccer. Klopp. Gegenpress. Bundesliga ball. Lot’s of names for it. But just don’t pretend you are in a Guardiola system.
Then how do you explain the "call up" to multiple national training centers etc etc for the defender and mid - fielders? The one "forward" called up is listed as a midfielder on the DA roster and a defender on other sites. ^^^^ This is just some dad spouting about their soccer knowledge from 30 years ago.
That player is the exception, not the rule.
that player is not recognized as a forward. you just made my point.
That she isn't recognized as a forward is the point. Most are considered forwards. She therefor is the exception.
