I’m a Moderate who voted for Hillary, but I think Trump has the right idea. I am very anti-illegal immigration, and live in a stupidly liberal area of MoCo. Neighbors with signs up everywhere about how ‘We Welcome All Immigrants’ etc, etc. Maybe Trump could choose each of these houses to accept the illegal immigrants? They are advertising a welcome. Makes perfect sense to me.
Couldn’t agree more.
Welcoming immigrants and illegal immigrants are two different things. Those signs - and I know what you’re referring to - are calling out the xenophobia that has characterized and been stoked by this administration from day one. They popped up shortly after Trump was elected and enacted the “Muslim ban”. Funny how you twist a sign and message intended to impart community into “it’s now liberals responsibility to clothe and shelter illegal immigrants.” But while we’re on the topic of liberal charity, what about our collective blue state contributions to keep red states on the dole? I’ll use my tax dollars to house, clothe, and educate a family from Central America that desperately wants a life in the US and is willing to put everything on the line to have it in exchange for not having to support freeloading red staters who vote against their best interest and fall for Trump’s demagoguery while he establishes a kleptocracy at the expense of all but the very wealthy. Deal?
LOL. Its funny that you think the Central American families wont be freeloading
I don't think of people feeling desperate poverty and violence by walking thousands of miles for a chance at a better life - or a chance to just live - as freeloaders. These are humanitarian refugees, and many of these people have more of an appreciation for hard work and the American dream and what this country stands for than the average Trump voter or GOP politician. Speaking of freeloaders .... all those tax cuts for billionaires.
Exactly. How much will those free-loading billionaires cost us? Immigrants are a nice distraction for them.
