That fee is re-negotiated every few years - this is why CostCo jumped from Amex to Visa and Amex share prices took a dive after the announcement. These arrangements drive a large portion of revenue for the credit card issuing banks. The more people cancel their card, the less United will receive. It makes sense to cancel the card, if you're pissed at United.[/quote]
