Many of the "deplorables" either have no 401k -- and hence no stake in the system -- or have savings of under $100k. Isn't the median 401k something like 25k?

Frankly, they are willing to take the risk.

And -- let's face it -- waiting for demographics to kick in ANY DAY NOW and have yuppies + non-whites be the majority is not exactly a winning strategy for Democrats. Or, the thousands of state legislature seats and dozens of Congressional/governorships lost since 2008 might indicate something. Come on, did the American people suddenly turn that much more racist?
