Kind of interesting that the average scores for white kids (last year's scores) at Herndon is only a little lower than Madison. And Madison's white kids are the same as South Lakes. Also interesting that the white kids' scores at Herndon are higher (by a little) than the white kids at Lake Braddock and essentially the same as white kids at West Springfield. How often do we see threads saying "avoid Herndon" and "avoid South Lakes" --- but never see threads saying "avoid Madison" or "avoid Lake Braddock and West Sprngfld." Did you know that the white kids at Stuart(!!) have a slightly higher average than those at Centreville and Fairfax. Frankly, I think the listing showing the whole school's composite average are ridiculous. And when you start looking at the sub-groups, you really see the effect of HHI --even within subgroups. Housing dictates school scores. If the price-point of the housing in a school zone doesn't change... the scores aren't likely to change. HHI influences the housing that one can afford, which influences the wealth and resources of the student body, which influences overall academic achievement ... which influences composite SAT scores for schools.
Stay classy, PP.
