I did NOT think I hurt the dog until the vet checked her out after it was mentioned during the routine exam that she had the severe constipation the night before. I did not cut anything out-I simply squeezed the center of the shit ball to remove it and showered off the rest-also to clean her up as it was stuck in her fur.  I was going to take her to er vet that night, but then thought she looked better after a walk, and decided to try to save the trip and $$ (esp. since we had the shot appt the next morning) and ease it out myself.  I also massaged her tummy thinking it could help.  I would never have thought this could hurt her, and was shocked when 'told about the severe life threatening harm it caused-essentially killing her.

The guilt was overwhelming-even if done to help her, I kicked myself for not going to ER the night before, for trying to save the trip or $.  For waiting for AM vet appt.  I was puzzled by how what I did could cause such harm, but trusted the doctors word.  He also said no fecal matter was in her system as they did an x ray.  Ironically, she pooped later the next day even though she had not eaten anything.

I don't know what to think-I just want answers now I guess.
