The mixture is very dark and thick when I apply it. PD is green and brown, like regular dirt, so the mask sort of leaves me looking like a contestant on a wilderness survival reality show. I also cannot not believe how awful the mixture smells. It smells almost exactly like vomit. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this.
I can't remember what brand of probiotics we used, but it was white inside and there was no vomit smell! It didn't look like anything was on her face, really... maybe a little whiteness. No smell.
I am the PP. That's not the point. I know that some of them don't smell. What I'm saying is that this didn't work for many people on this thread, and many of the people on this thread admitted to choosing a probiotic blindly, or choosing a cheap one. I was saying that other PPs might want to reconsider trying the mask with a better probiotic. There are many factors that go into a probiotic's effectivity. PD itself smells, but it worked for me and for OP. PD is hardly the only high-quality probiotic on the market. If it didn't work, I'm just trying to encourage other posters to choose a probiotic that isn't crap.
Well, I totally got that point, but the other point you made was that it smelled like vomit and you were surprised no one had mentioned that. I'm just saying we tried it and it didn't smell like vomit, which could be why none of us mentioned it smelled like vomit!
I should have been clearer. PD smells horrible, but it gave me and the OP dramatic results. I am surprised that no one who tried *PD* mentioned it. I'm fully aware that all unencapsulated probiotics don't smell nasty, because I give my kids the Culturelle powder, and it is odorless. However, I was just trying to explain that probiotics are different. There are all different kinds of strains of bacteria, in different ratios, and whatnot in different products. I was just trying to encourage people who didn't see much of a result to try it again with something a little more robust that might work better. There's no way to know if PD gives better results than other probiotics, but I suspect it might. PD is very hardy. It has a robust smell when you pull it out of the capsules and there are still billions of live bacteria when tested on its expiration date. Therefore, it is hard for me to imagine a product that has a totally different feel like Culturelle Kids working exactly the same (CK only has one strain of bacteria, even though it is a high quality product). When I do the PD mask, I get the feeling that I'm putting something really strong on my face. Given how well it works, I have found the smell to be a small concession. Although my husband might argue differently. lol
