I actually don't think its true at all (and right now I actually AM a SAHM, looking to reenter at 1 year). But I can't figure out motivation for bashing either. I can figure out motivation for bashing WOHM, because the people that do are generally unhinged or living in a time warp or have loony gender biases and see "women working" as somehow antithesis of their world view. But it doesn't really flow the other way so honestly, I don't understand that motivation (I don't accept anyone's motivation to bash anyone as valid but at least the loonies have their own sort of twisted logic!).

So wait a minute... you feel that the women bashing WOHMs are "unhinged or living in a time warp or have loony gender biases, etc. etc." but you say nothing about the women who bash SAHMs, other than you're sure they aren't jealous?

While I agree that bashing either side is unproductive, there is no way you can say one group is "unhinged" and the other isn't.  The vile comments posted by WOHMs about SAHMs on DCUM are unlike anything I've ever heard IRL (thankfully).  If ever there was a group of crazies, it's the militant WOHMs who insist that any woman who dares to become a SAHM is a sell-out, a loser, and countless other derogatory descriptors - simply because they've chosen to take time out of the workforce to care for their own children.  Since when did that become something sinister or undesirable?  Oh right, since never.  As a sane, normal PT WAHM, I am embarrassed to be associated with WOHMs in general when I read the tirades from the unhinged nut jobs on DCUM who go after SAHMs for no other reason than (wait for it) jealousy.  Pure and simple and oh so transparent.[/quote]
