Excluding real estate because you have to live somewhere and it's hard to assess equity in a bubble market. Are you happy with how you are doing or do you think you are behind where you should be?
Us: 36/37, two kids under 3yrs HHI: 260K 401k/TSP: 285K Cash: 50K Home equity: 270k No non-mortgage debts. I only feel poor when I read DCUM.
We are about the same and thought we were in good shape until I start going thru the threads on here. Then I feel waaaaay behind.
DCUM is either an affluent bubble or its full of liars - probably both. Don't let DCUM distort your perspective. You are rich in comparison to 90% of the United States or 97% of the rest of the world.
These posts are self selecting. I bet there are tons of people reading who are in their 30s with a net worth of 90k or 290k who are NOT posting; the ones who are dying to post are the ones who want to tell you they're at $5 million or $50 million at your age -- and often (not always) they throw in a line at the end stating that $4 million or $49 million respectively is from a trust.
