An "emotional support" dog has no meaning, no real certification, and no training. It's your pet, OP. STOP SERVICE DOG FRAUD http://www.cci.org/site/c.cdKGIRNqEmG/b.9194893/k.652A/Stop_Service_Dog_Fraud/apps/ka/ct/contactus.asp?c=cdKGIRNqEmG&b=9194893&en=dmLPJ6PPLcKYKgOSLbLVKcP2InISIfPYKjK5IkP6LwJfE
Just so you know, the FBI has trained trauma support dogs for children. These dogs go through extensive training. I'm not an expert in what "support" dogs are, but I've seen these in action working with trauma victims, so it's possible they have real ones for PTSD victims.
This. My brother has a trained dog for PTSD. It's trained for specific tasks and responses. It sounds like OP has a pet and her therapist has said the pet helps with her anxiety. There is a HUGE difference between the two. If your dog is well trained and you do not expect people to fawn all over you because you have your pet with you, it's fine. Just please don't be one of those ESA owners who makes it harder for those with animals actually trained to be support animals.
