My FIL was hospitalized in intensive care for two months. Nowadays it's more likely to happen to a special needs person because they can't necessarily communicate to you how duck they feel. Strep literally knocks you over - you typically feel very sick and very tired and your throat hurts like hell. If you look in there you can usually see white pustules in the throat.
